An affordable day out, officially
Outdoor Toys, who research family days out across the UK, ranked Gulliver's World fifth in a nationwide affordability study, looking at admission prices, parking charges, family facilities and overall value. With the cost of summer holidays weighing on a lot of families this year, it's a genuinely useful bit of recognition, not just a nice badge.
What's actually there
Designed specifically for children aged two to thirteen, Gulliver's World is built around themed lands: Safari Kingdom, Western World, Smuggler's Wharf and the Land of Oz, each with its own rides and attractions. It's deliberately pitched as a gentler, more affordable alternative to the UK's bigger thrill-ride resorts, which is exactly why it suits younger families so well.
New this year
The resort has just unveiled two new themed hotels, the Pirate Ship Hotel and the Enchanted Castle Hotel, adding proper short-break accommodation to a day-out destination. If you've been thinking about turning a visit into a weekend rather than a day trip, this is the first year you've been able to actually stay on site.
Making it cheaper still
Free parking, regular promotional offers and reduced-price advance booking are all running through the summer, on top of the affordability ranking itself. Booking ahead rather than turning up on the day tends to be where the real savings are.
A local favourite since 1989
Gulliver's World has been welcoming families to Burtonwood since 1989, and it's still one of the North West's most-visited family attractions, drawing visitors from well beyond Warrington. If you live locally, it's easy to take it for granted, so it's worth the reminder that it's genuinely one of the better family days out in the country right now, not just the closest one.
