The Best Farmers Markets Within 30 Minutes of Culcheth
If you have not got into the habit of a Saturday or Sunday morning market run, it is worth starting. The area around WA3 has a genuinely good spread of options within easy driving distance, each one with a different character. Here is where to go.
Warrington Makers Market, Time Square, Warrington (about 15 minutes)
The closest option and a good one for a weekday alternative too. The Warrington Makers Market runs on the second Sunday of every month from 11am to 4pm in Time Square in the town centre. It brings together around 75 local traders covering food, baked goods, crafts, artwork, street food and coffee, alongside live music from local musicians. Warrington Central station is a six-minute walk from the market if you want to leave the car at home. Free entry.
Lymm Artisan Market, Lymm (about 15 minutes)
Lymm is one of those villages that rewards a slower morning, and the Artisan Market is a good reason to make the trip. It runs on the third Sunday of the month from 11am to 4pm at the Lymm Youth Community Centre on Crouchley Lane, opposite the canal. Under new management from 2026, it is a food and craft market with a mix of stalls and refreshments available on site. The village itself is worth an hour of your time before or after: the canal, the dam and the independent cafes around the town centre make for a pleasant morning out.
Abbey Leys Farmers Market, High Leigh, nr Knutsford (about 20 minutes)
This one is a proper farmers market in the original sense. Abbey Leys runs on the first Sunday of every month from 10am to 1pm at Abbey Leys Farm on Peacock Lane in High Leigh, just outside Knutsford. It is a smaller, more focused market where the emphasis is on local producers selling their own food and produce directly to the public. Worth arriving early as the best stalls tend to sell out before midday.
Knutsford Makers Market, Knutsford (about 25 minutes)
Knutsford is one of the more enjoyable towns in Cheshire for a morning out and the Makers Market adds a good reason to go. It runs on the first Sunday of the month from February to November, from 11am to 4pm across Princess Street and Silk Mill Street in the town centre. Over 150 stalls covering art, craft, food, drink, coffee and street food. The town's independent cafes and coffee shops make it easy to turn the market into a full morning. Parking nearby can get busy so arriving before noon helps.
Nantwich Farmers Market, Nantwich Town Square (about 40 minutes)
Technically just outside the 30-minute window but well worth including. Nantwich Farmers Market runs on the last Saturday of every month from 9am to 3pm in the town square and draws producers from across Cheshire selling directly to the public. Stallholders have included Cheshire Pie Company, Chestnut Meats, Harvest House Bakery, H.S. Bourne Cheshire Cheese and a good range of local honey, herbs, oils and seasonal produce. Nantwich itself is a beautiful town and easy to combine with a walk along the canal or a browse around the independent shops.
